If Cricut Design Space won’t download or install, the cause is usually your browser, connection, storage, or security settings. Work through these fixes in order and retry the download after each one.

1. Check your internet connection

A slow or unstable connection can stop the download partway through.
  • Restart your router and modem.
  • Switch from Wi-Fi to a wired connection, or move closer to your router.
  • Pause other large downloads or streaming while you download.

2. Try a different browser

Browser settings or extensions can block the installer.
  • Try another browser, such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
  • Open a private or incognito window, which runs without most extensions.
  • Temporarily turn off ad blockers and download managers.

3. Clear your browser cache

Old cached files can cause the download page to load incorrectly. Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, close the browser completely, then reopen design.cricut.com.

4. Free up storage space

The installer needs room to download and unpack.
  • Windows and Mac: Empty the Recycle Bin or Trash and delete files you no longer need.
  • iPhone, iPad, and Android: Remove unused apps, photos, or videos.

5. Check your antivirus or firewall

Security software sometimes flags or quarantines the installer by mistake.
  • Check your antivirus quarantine for the Cricut file and restore it if it was blocked.
  • Mac: If the app is blocked from opening, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and allow it.
  • Windows: If SmartScreen shows a warning for the file from design.cricut.com, select More info, then Run anyway.
Only allow the file through your security software if you downloaded it from design.cricut.com. Never disable protection for files from other sites.

6. Run the installer with the right permissions

  • Windows: Right-click the .exe file and select Run as administrator.
  • Mac: Drag the app into your Applications folder before opening it, rather than running it from the disk image.

7. Update your device or reinstall

Design Space may not install on an outdated operating system.
  1. Install the latest updates for your operating system.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. If an older copy of Design Space is installed, uninstall it.
  4. Download a fresh installer and try again.
